THE ELFCIV 2021 SEASON STARTS.
On the weekend of 17 and 18 April the ELFCIV 2021 season was inaugurated in one of the most popular Italian circuits, Mugello.
An almost winter-like climate accompanied our three drivers for the entire duration of the tests and then gave a timid sun during the race days.
In the Supersport 600 category, the now tested Stefano Valtulini was the master of his new teammate, Nicola Settimo, who made his debut in the category.
A last-minute surprise is the arrival in the team of a third very young rider: Daniel Da Lio, making his debut in the Moto3 category.
1ST AND 2ND QUALIFICATION
Stefano Valulini Q1 1’55.574 | Q2 1’55.005
Qualifying 1 was difficult, due to some issues we could not put together the right lap. Saturday’s qualifying went much better, we managed to improve my time by half a second.”
Nicola Settimo Q1 1’56.440 | Q2 1’56.858
“The first qualifying went well, we improved the time test and we found a setting that I liked while the second qualifying, although it started well, ended with a fall to Biondetti 1 that prevented the bike from being ready for the first race.”
Daniel Da Lio Q1 2’03.475 | Q2 2’03.266
“Having lapped very little at this track and not having had any tests behind me with this bike, which is new to me, Q1 was another session to improve, which was profitable because we dropped three seconds from our free practice times. I was able to get some good runs but a small high side stopped me. Despite this I am happy because I am starting to get confident with the bike. Q2 was more complicated because of the colder temperature but we still managed to lower our Q1 times.”
RACE 1
SSP600
Stefano Valtulini | GARA 1 – 18°
A difficult first race for Stefano who starts with his Yamaha R6 in thirteenth position and is immediately bottled and unable to recover ground. As the laps progressed the pace improved but the clash caused by Pusceddu pushed Stefano into gravel and led him to lose time and positions concluding the race in eighteenth place.
MOTO3
Daniel Da Lio | GARA 1 – RIT
The line-up of the first moto3 race of the season sees the Beon of Team Rosso Corsa fifteenth on the grid. The start of Daniel is excellent and immediately leads him to them among the top positions, also going to touch the rose of the podium. A series of falls however undermines the race pace and a technical problem at less than two laps from the end of the race forces Daniel to retire.
RACE 2
SSP600
Stefano Valtulini | G2 – 5°
“ Race 2 was very positive for me, I was very focused and this allowed me to have a good start and recover from the start in precious positions. The race pace lap by lap was very good and I managed to remain attached to the group of the top 5, remaining also in the lead of the race for one lap. These days we have thought of important solutions to improve and sew the bike even more on me. From here we set a good starting point to get to Misano even more prepared and be there from the start, especially to have good qualifying! I thank the whole team because they worked hard all weekend to put me in a position to bring home some results.”
SSP600
Nicola Settimo | G2 – 21°
“After the fall in Q2 on Saturday I could not participate in the race, so Sunday was the first of the championship for me. It was very useful to gain experience and I realize that I still have to learn many things because the transition from 300 to 600 is felt! This stimulates me a lot and I’m still happy to have immediately regained confidence with the bike after the bad fall of Friday. I can not wait to get to Misano to continue to experience and improve on this bike entirely!”
MOTO3
Daniel Da Lio | G2 – 12°
I’m quite satisfied with my race 2, this weekend was for me a workout and every round I needed to know the bike and the track better. The weather conditions in Race 2 were worse than yesterday, with much more wind and cold. Nevertheless I had a good start and managed to gain three positions. I am convinced that in Misano we could do much better because it is a circuit I know well and I will have enough experience and a good affinity with the motorbike we worked on this weekend.
