NATIONAL TROPHY 1000 – ROUND 6 – IMOLA

Friday 22 December 2023

Over the weekend the Imola racetrack hosted the final round of the Italian Speed Championship.

The first free practice session on Thursday helps the team get used to it, as it is the first time that the team has raced with the Yamaha R1 in Imola and that Alessandro hasn’t seen this circuit since the previous year’s race.

Shift after session and thanks to the changes made to the bike, the time dropped quickly, reaching the best time of the weekend in qualifying 1 with a best lap of 1’49.786 which led Alessandro to line up in seventh place on the starting grid.

Unfortunately, the second qualifying did not lead to an improvement in the starting position due to a fall at the Piratella curve on the second lap. The fall forces the team to quickly repair the bike in order to participate in the race in the afternoon. The latter takes place at a more cautious pace given the little time had to reassemble the bike and ends with Alessandro in sixth position.

The last match of the championship takes place the following day. The pace and times are decidedly faster than the previous day and the forecast is to finish the race in fifth place but due to a long run at the high chicane the race ends in seventh position.

Summing up the past season, the team is satisfied with the fifth position achieved in the general championship ranking, especially because, subtracting the 2 wild cards from the world championship, the overall ranking sees Alessandro on the third step of the podium, a result far superior to expectations answers for this season.
