The second race weekend of the Italian Speed Championship has just ended between the curbs of the Vallelunga racetrack.
The annual Vallelunga event, which usually marks the end of the season, this year represents the second stage of an Italian Speed Championship which is still at the beginning! Vallelunga, as often happened, welcomed the riders with a hostile climate, rain and a leaden sky were the protagonists of the weekend.
Thursday was spent between tests and free practices in which we worked above all on acquiring as much data as possible in the different track conditions in order to arrive at the weekend’s races prepared in both dry and wet conditions.
We enter the heart of the weekend with the first official sessions on Friday in which the work continues to find the optimal set-up to allow the drivers to best tackle the first qualifiers of the weekend.
A good Q1 for Mattia, who clocked a time of 1’39.258, led him to line up in the third row of the starting grid, while the growth work of the young Baiamonte continues, using the Roman round to increase his feeling with the new vehicle and gain confidence in the 600 category.
Saturday’s race represents the excellent realization of the work done in the previous days, a good start and aggressive attitude allow Mattia to gain five positions, finishing the race in fifth place. Andrea, on the other hand, finishes the first race of the season in ninth place in the SS600 ranking.
Sunday started in the best way for Casadei, with first position in the warm up set at 1’39.145.
However, the challenge in the afternoon was more difficult as, due to traffic and contact with another rider, Mattia was given a penalty and forced to lose precious seconds. In an attempt to recover positions Mattia falls in Roma and, getting back on the bike, finishes his race in fourteenth place in the Next Generation category, followed by his teammate who finishes in ninth place in the SS600 category.
Overall we leave Vallelunga with excellent sensations, a bike finally on par with its competitors and good conditions to give our best at the next round at Mugello!
