TEAM ROSSO CORSA – ROCCOLI ON THE PODIUM ALSO IN RACE 2 IN MISANO

Sunday 31 March 2019

Second race of the Italian Supersport 600 Speed Championship for the Rosso Corsa team at the Misano World Circuit. In yesterday’s race the Italian champion Massimo Roccoli was confirmed among the protagonists, getting the third position, after a very hard fought race, while Michael Carbonera, who replaces the injured Alessandro Arcangeli, crashed fortunately without consequences.
Today’s race took place on a sunny day with mild temperatures, and got underway in the late afternoon. As yesterday, and following the results of the qualifying, Roccoli started from the second row, while Carbonera started from the tenth.
The six times Italian champion started well and reached second place. During the fourth lap, however, the race was red flagged due to a crash and to a bike that was left in the middle of the track.
New starting procedure, with the race reduced to 11 laps. Roccoli started again very well, getting second place at the end of the first lap. Fighting in the leading group, Roccoli kept his position until the seventh lap, when he dropped to fourth place. In the final laps the drivers of the leading group repeatedly exchanged positions until the checkered flag, which saw the Rosso Corsa driver conquering the third position.
Unfortunately Carbonera had to retire in the first part of the race, before the red flag was shown due to a technical problem and so he couldn’t take part in the second race of 11 laps. In the championship standings Roccoli occupies the second position with 32 points.
The next appointment with the CIV Supersport 600 is scheduled for the weekend of April 27th and 28th at the Mugello circuit.

Race 2: 1) Gabellini (Yamaha) – 2) Roccoli (Yamaha) – 3) Manfredi – 4) Mercandelli (Honda) – 5) Ottaviani (Yamaha) …… nc) Carbonera (Yamaha)

Massimo Roccoli: “Two podiums are a more than positive balance for this first race weekend in Misano. We tried to recover the gap that separated us from Gabellini, who was very fast this weekend, but unfortunately it was not possible. I have a very good team that will work to be even more competitive in the next round in Mugello”.

Michael Carbonera: “A very unlucky race due to a technical problem that forced me to stop. However, I’m satisfied with this weekend in which I have grown a lot. I will treasure this experience for my debut in the Italian Cup next weekend”.
Beppe Amato: “A very positive first round. We are in a good position and the two podiums won by Roccoli prove it. We only have a few small changes to make in order to be even further ahead. I would like to thank all the guys in the team who have worked hard to reach a good level. The result is also thanks to them”.
