TEAM ROSSO CORSA – IN MISANO ROCCOLI FALLS AT THE PENULTIMATE LAP WHILE FIGHTING FOR THE VICTORY

Sunday 28 July 2019

Eighth race of the CIV, Italian Speed Supersport Championship, for the Rosso Corsa team at the Misano World Circuit.
Yesterday, in the race Massimo Roccoli had obtained/got eleventh place, losing by a single point the first position in the standings/ just for only one point he didn’t get the first position. Alessandro Arcangeli had instead got the fifteenth place, gaining a point for his ranking.
Today’s race was held this afternoon in a cloudy sky that threatened rain. As yesterday, based on the results of the qualifying, Roccoli took off from the second row, while Arcangeli from the ninth.
The six-time Italian champion started very fast when the traffic lights went off, and immediately took second place, and then moved to the lead in the lap following. At the head of the race there was a group of nine riders who often exchanged positions and who fought in every bend. After being in first place, for five and then for another four laps, unfortunately during the penultimate passage Roccoli lost grip at the front of the oak curve and fell, without possibility to resume the race.
As for Arcangeli, on the first lap he kept his starting position, and then a rally that ended with the twenty-first final place.
In the championship standings Massimo Roccoli is now second with 131 points, 26 less from the summit, while Arcangeli is eighteenth with 9 points.

Massimo Roccoli “It was a very unlucky weekend. Too bad for the fall at the corner of the oak, which caused the end of the race in which I was fighting for victory. I was doing my best because I wanted to win, but unfortunately I couldn’t. Now, I want to check the data to understand where I went wrong. I thank the guys of the team because today the bike was really very good. I will try to make up and take back the top of the standings in the next appointment at the CIV in Mugello”.
Alessandro Arcangeli: “It was a bit of a weird race, also because the track conditions were particularly difficult. I didn’t immediately have a great affinity with the motorcycle and I managed to find a good rhythm only in the last laps. Too bad, I could not be immediately efficient. All in all, it was a quite positive weekend, for which I thank my team”
Beppe Amato: “The weekend started and ended badly. Today, The weather conditions were not ideal, so Roccoli’s mistake can be accepted , especially if there are seven riders fighting for victory. We still are positive, because the bike and the team as a whole have confirmed their competitiveness. There are still four races left to be played for which the presuppositions to do a good job and to fight till the end for the championship are all there”
