ROSSOCORSA TEAM – ROCCOLI IS SECOND IN THE SIXTH RACE OF CIV SS IN IMOLA

Sunday 30 June 2019

After Massimo Roccoli’s second fantastic victory yesterday in the fifth race of the CIV, Italian Supersport Speed Championship, today the Rosso Corsa team rider was back on track for the sixth race of the championship.
.
As yesterday, based on the seventh place obtained in qualifying, the championship leader started from the second row, while his team mate Alessandro Arcangeli, who yesterday was unfortunately the victim of a crash, started from the seventh. The race took place on a warm and sunny day, over 12 laps. In the first lap due to a crash in one of the first corners, which involved three drivers, the Race Direction interrupted the race with the red flag. New starting procedure for a confirmed 12 laps race.
The six times Italian Champion took a very good start and took the second position at the end of the first lap, but already in the second one he took the lead and remained there until the seventh lap. Once overtaken Roccoli controlled the race, but he couldn’t avoid Gabellini’s escape who accumulated a small advantage. Massimo was good at staying in the lead of the group of the immediate pursuers and crossed the finish line in second position.
It’s the sixth consecutive podium for Roccoli who occupies the first position in the championship standings with 126 points.
Unlucky the test of Arcangeli crashed during the first lap, without having the chance to resume the race.
The next appointment with the CIV Supersport is scheduled at the Misano World Circuit over the weekend of 27 and 28 July.

Race 2: 1) Gabellini (Yamaha) – 2) Roccoli (Yamaha) – 3) Manfredi (Yamaha) – 4) Stirpe (MV Agusta) – 5) Casadei (Yamaha) ……… n.c.) Arcangeli (Yamaha)

Massimo Roccoli: “It was a good weekend even if it was very tiring, especially because of the great heat. I’m very happy with the results achieved in these two races, which I enjoyed a lot. Today I gave my best and honestly I couldn’t do more. I know Gabellini well and I knew he would have done a good race. When he overtook me I lost more positions, but I reacted immediately and managed to get the second position. An important result also for the ranking that, despite being only halfway through the championship, is taking a very clear shape. I want to thank my team because also today my bike was exceptional”.
Alessandro Arcangeli: “After the first start, due to a problem with the gearbox, I went off the track and crashed. I wasn’t hurt but my race ended there. It was an unlucky weekend, with two crashes that prevented me from collecting points for the classification. I had never raced a 600 on this track, which is not easy to interpret. It will be better in Misano in the next round of the CIV”.
Beppe Amato – Team Manager: “I’m satisfied with our weekend. Massimo collected 45 points which are really a lot. We are first in the standings, but Gabellini is a tough nut to crack and will give us a hard time until the end. I’d like to thank Roccoli who, on the track where he crashed and got hurt in the world championship race, has regained his fitness and two excellent results. I thank the guys in the team who did a great job and also our sponsors who never fail to support us.
