ROSSO CORSA TEAM – THIRD PLACE FOR ROCCOLI IN MISANO. A FALL STOPS CARBONERA

Saturday 30 March 2019

The first race of the Italian Supersport 600 Championship took place today at the Misano World Circuit with team Rocco Corsa’s two riders Massimo Roccoli and Alessandro Arcangeli, replaced by Michael Carbonera due to injury in these first two races.
At the end of the two qualifying sessions six-time Italian champion Massimo Roccoli obtained the fourth position with a time of 1’39″366 and started the race from the second row. Thirtieth time in qualifying and tenth row for Carbonera, at his debut on a 600 Supersport bike.
Roccoli started very well from the second row and was immediately in second position. Within a few laps the Rosso Corsa rider was in the leading group of three riders, with a good advantage over his pursuers.
The fight for the victory was restricted to the first three, with Roccoli firmly holding the second place. In the last three laps a drop of tires slowed down the Italian champion, who was still able to conquer the third place.
Unlucky was Carbonare in the race who was recovering positions, when he was unfortunately the victim of a crash without consequences during the seventh lap.
Tomorrow, again at the Misano World Circuit, the second race of the CIV 2019 will take place.

Massimo Roccoli: “I’m happy to have started the season with a podium, also because I knew that this year’s opponents are particularly tough and that on this track they had maybe something more than me, but I’m happy to have been able to stay with them in the race. I believed in them until a few laps from the end, but in the final laps I ran out of tires. I’m sure that with my team we’ll be able to close the gap”.

Michael Carbonera: “I started quite well and tried to catch up with the group in front of me. I was twenty-fifth, but unfortunately at the Rio curve I lost grip on the front, maybe because I entered a little too hard. Anyway, I’m ready and I want to do something good tomorrow”.
