MISANO ELFCIV 2022 – ROUND 4

Friday 22 December 2023

Over the weekend the Misano World Circuit hosted the fourth round of the Italian Speed Championship. The highlight of this event was the night-time holding of two of the most followed races by lovers of this championship: the Superbike and the Supersport 600 & Next Generation!

The first free practices begin on Thursday and see Mattia immediately line up in the top 5 positions of the general classification. The bike immediately reaches an optimal setting and stops the time of the second free practice sessions at 1’39.312, still improving compared to the morning.

The first qualifying should have been held at night but given the adverse weather conditions due to rain they were cancelled. The starting grid will therefore only take into account Q2 which took place under the scorching sun of Misano and resulted in an excellent third place for Mattia who further improved his time by stopping the time at 1’38.162.

Despite the third time in qualifying, due to the penalty obtained at Mugello last round, Mattia is forced to start last on the grid during the first race of the week, the night one!

An excellent start and the determination that distinguishes Mattia led him to gain 16 positions, finishing the race in fourteenth place.

Sunday begins with the warm up during which Mattia leads the session ahead of all his opponents with a time of 1’38.525!

The second race takes place in the afternoon and sees Mattia starting from third position on the starting grid. An excellent start immediately led him to fight with the top four in front of him, with a good pace and a minimum gap from the podium squad. In the fifth round a red flag stops the race, the drivers return to the pits and prepare to start again. The start is aggressive again and Mattia finds himself in a tussle with the first three riders but after a few laps a clutch problem stops his race and forces him to retire from the race.
