FIRST ROUND: MISANO, APRIL 06 – 07 – 08 2018

Sunday 8 April 2018

Rossocorsa makes its debut in the Italian Speed Championship after 18 years of absence from racing. The new Rossocorsa team begins this adventure by participating in the following championships: SuperSport 600 with Marco Bussolotti (Yamaha R6), SuperSport 300 with Michael Carbonera (Yamaha R3) and National Trophy with Matt Price (Yamaha R1). Creating the team has been an important work that has involved research regarding the choice of staff, sponsors and riders in an attempt to create a team that can work at its best and that can achieve significant results. After the winter tests carried out in Misano, Jerez and Cartagena we finally faced the first qualifying of the year in the Misano World Circuit and the results were exceptional. The excellent work of the team is visible from the results obtained, especially in the SS600. The rider Marco Bussolotti has maintained in the free practice a good race pace getting a best lap of 1’39.770 and improving in qualifying 1 placing himself in second place just 10 thousandths from the first classified, with a time of 1’39.086. This allowed him to race starting from a very good position.

The supersport 600 race starts with Marco Bussolotti in second place on the grid. It was a complex race due to the strong proximity between the pilots that brought him after a few corners in 4th position. After a comeback that saw him in the lead for 4 laps, he found himself losing ground due to a gearbox problem. A subsequent comeback has allowed him to stay long in the pink of the podium but the recurrence of the problem forced him to finish the race in 4th place for only 20 hundredths of a second from third place. In race 2 we see Bussolotti starting in second position and maintaining it for the first few laps. The race is very hard fought and the positions are constantly changing because of the eight drivers who are fighting in the first places and are protagonists from the first to the last lap. Bussolotti manages to stabilize himself in third position, which he maintains until two laps from the end and then he conquers the second place by getting into a curve. With a further overtaking he manages to lead the race for one lap but ends the race in second position. In this way the team conquers the first podium of the championship already at the first exit!

Race 1 of supersport 300 sees Carbonera underdog in 40th position due to an electrical problem that occurred during the qualifying. Despite this, the pilot managed to finish the race gaining the 26th place with a best lap of 1’54.827. In race 2, despite starting again from the 40th position there was a good start to the race, not without complications due to several crashes that have slowed the pilot and the collision suffered. Despite the various complications he managed to get the 23rd place, further improving his position compared to the first race. We have to take into account the age of the pilot compared to his teammate, the absence of months from the slopes and the fact that the bike can not be considered fully completed. Having said that, we can be positive about his work and the improvements he has made.

Rosso Corsa team is also present in the National Trophy 1000 championship with Matt Price who participated last year riding a Kawasaki. In this championship the Australian rider has to face some difficulties, first of all the presence of important riders who have participated in the world championship and also the passage from a Kawasaki to a Yamaha.
Despite these problems and the time difference he showed good results in the first free practice with a best time of 1’53.589. During the second day of practice he had some technical problems that put him at a disadvantage in the qualifying session, placing him 30th on the starting grid and finishing the race in 23rd place. We still have a long way to go and the rider will have plenty of time to get familiar with the bike, which is completely new, and with the team. Also in this case we can be positive considering the results and the context of this first race.
