One of the questions that has always nagged the amateur, the one who attends free practice on the track, is: is it better to have lots of HP for dizzying speeds, but also a lot of psychological and physical effort, or a less powerful but ‘stressful’ bike that is just the right amount of fun?

The market seems to be leaning towards the first option, given the near disappearance of the 600 class and the extinction of the ‘settemmezzo’ (the perfect engine capacity for the writer).

But there are those who don’t give up and continue to believe in the second alternative, like the Rosso Corsa guys who have set up a Yamaha YZFR6 for free practice, playing with the engine displacement and first class components, also the result of the work and experience of Massimo Roccoli, multiple Italian Supersport champion.

We tested this little gem during a day of free practice (always under the Rosso Corsa banner) on the Misano track, rediscovering the joy of entering the gates of a track for pure fun. Without the worry of SBK power and spaceship electronics….
