THIRD ROUND: IMOLA, JUNE 22 – 23 – 24 2018

Sunday 24 June 2018

The third round of the CIV was held at the Imola circuit. After a sunny reception, the first day of free practice began in the rain. The weather conditions made it particularly difficult to work and experiment with alternative solutions in anticipation of the weekend’s races. Qualifying sessions were held on Friday and Saturday. In the first Supersport 600 qualifying session, Marco Bussolotti concentrated on his race pace and on finding the right feeling with the bike, given the changes that were made to the tires and suspensions. The traffic that was created on the track did not allow to take advantage of the advantage on the tire and to work in search of time. The second qualifying session of the weekend was very positive as it allowed the rider to gain the second position on the grid, giving him a good advantage ahead of the races. The Supersport 300 qualifying session was held on a dry track and this allowed the rider to improve on the free practice sessions and to move up in the ranking. Also in this case we worked more on the research of the feeling between the bike and the rider, on the chassis and on the research of the right compromise with the final transmission ratio.

The Supersport 300 race weekend starts in 26th position for Michael Carbonera. The start is very good but during the first laps, due to a contact between pilots, he loses several positions and finishes 35th. In spite of this complication, Carbonera was able to recover ground finishing the race in 20th position. Sunday’s race represented a further improvement. The grid saw Carbonera start again in 26th position but with perseverance and determination he was able to recover ground until he finished the race in 17th place. With this race the pilot reaches his best time in the circuit of Imola with a fast lap of 2’10.368. The first race of Supersport 600 sees Bussolotti second on the starting grid. The rider finds himself in third position at the first braking, but this doesn’t prevent him from leading the race. The race strategy was to preserve the tires for the last laps allowing the pilot to push in the final lap. The overtaking in the last braking allowed him to gain the second position sealing the time at 1’53.204, at a minimum distance from the first classified.

The third round of the Civ concludes for the Rossocorsa team with the second race of Supersport 600. On the grid we find Marco Bussolotti leading the group. Due to a bad start and several crashes the red flag forces the riders to go back to the box and after a quick start the race starts again. In the first part of the race Bussolotti is able to keep the first position until the eighth lap when Roccoli takes the ground and the fight between the two drivers starts. The fight goes on until a few seconds before the end, when at the last chicane, with a spectacular braking, he overtakes Roccoli gaining the first place on the podium of the season. Thanks to these last two races Bussolotti is able to climb the ranking getting the first place in the championship.

This weekend in Imola gave us great emotions and allowed both drivers to achieve excellent results, bringing the morale and motivation of this rookie team to higher and higher levels. We look forward with great excitement to the next round to be held in Misano at the end of July.
